  1. Walt, you are an astute man from what you wrote and agree with basically all of what you have now written. The race was totally altered when the Barry Purdon horse galloped and would have left Wild Card parked otherwise I am sure David butcher would have just sat one one! Matthew White handed up I believe solely because of the speed that Butcher was moving and must’ve thought that he cou,d out-sprint Wild Card in the straight. Yes I believe if Glenthorne hadve stayed in front without being heavily challenged, then he wouldve probably won as he is a better horse in front! What actually annoys me more is when you have backed a horse and u are one one and you are left parked due to a driver letting the parked horse have the front!!!!!!! Anyway very fair posting and look forward to many more!
  2. Walt, my punting/investing is basically totally the opposite of yours which is good. I generally only wager on looser class racing and do not bother with tighter class racing or big stake races. Have always found it far easier to consistently make money, however we will both work with what works for us. I understand what you are saying in regards to Glenthorne handing up to its stablemate but I do not think there was team driving involved. Wild Card was pressing Glenthorne extremely hard and David Butcher wanted the lead at all costs. Reality is that both horses if they carried on the way they were going would both stop! It was not as if Glenthorne handed the lead up meekly by the look of it. Personally think Wild Card was the better horse on the night, and do not think anymore in it!!
  3. Your opinion and perogative, however any top driver wouldve won with that horse. He had plenty of opportunity to put the horse into the race rather than roar home from last in the straight. The McRae horses on the whole were disappointing for the punters on Wednesday!
  4. Use commonsense Ranga. Give Ms. Wigg a fine for what she did but taking her livelihood off her when so many are struggling is just blatantly pathetic. We are being run by a total bunch of muppets in all divisions!!
  5. Ok Mr Never Ever, why have they split the meetings over the 2 different courses then? Why would they want to race on Rangiora when they arent allowed crowds on course anyway??????? Wouldve made more sense surely to race on the best track in NZ?
  6. At the end of the day we have to agree to disagree, as some will agree with disqualifying Ms. Wigg for 17 months for syringing a horse with a legal substance on race day, everyones perogative. Some will say it is a rule that she broke but didnt deserve to be hammered with such as severe penalty, and I am on that side. However the major point is that harness racing in the north can not afford to keep hammering owners, trainers and drivers!!! No it doesnt affect any of us at all apart from the fact that it is another nail in the coffin up there for harness racing. There are several trainers in the Auckland area that are just hanging in there financially and also many that will be giving the training away in the next year or two! Sheryll Wigg probably is now feeling like not training again in NZ as there js buggerall money in it! Anyway each to their own as to opinion and the fact that we can express on BOAY is due to the Chief and long may it happen!
  7. Robalan, where have I ever once stated that I was an expert on Racing? To be fair I have no idea why Steven McRae would line thst horse up in a stand when he had no idea on how to pace away correctly! Anyone sho backed it at those microscopic odds from the stand I would say were taking a risk not worth taking! However, my point was that the horse was a hot favourite and was by far the best horse in that field by a country mile. The horse lost a fair amount of ground from the early gallop but did catch the very poor field without much effort!!!! With the amount of ability it had a far more successful result wouldve been to have moved around the field without much effort! Craig Thornley had this opportunity but did not take it and the fact that it stormed home showed the horses ability. You can defend Craig’s drive as much as you want but it was clear to see that it was poor decision making! I dont confess to be an expert on racing as you put it, however “Brodie is once again on the money”.
  8. Not too sure what you mean by that? I believe she can still be an amateur driver which she is extremely good at! I do not know her personally, however on the face of it, the training of horses is due to Tim Vince. Tim has had enough of the beurocracy and you can see him pulling stumps and you couldnt blame him!
  9. Lol Thanks for that Dougie. Bit weird thought I read that the 2 day Westport meeting was going to Addington. Bit weird that one day gone to Addington and thought that the 2nd day would’ve also been on the same course but clearly not. So yeah why do so many more prefer to race on the grass for less and against more?
  10. Fair enough Galah, just don’t believe the rule is sensible when she administered nothing that was illegal and could’ve been eaten in food. Anyway more important things to be concerned with , do feel for Sheryl Wigg though for length of sentence. Will she be back? If it was me, I wouldn’t be back!
  11. You have to be kidding. Steven McRae needs to find a new stable driver, you would have to think?
  12. Just realised that Westport at Addington is on Sunday and have far bigger field no.s Not sure why you would prefer to run on the Sunday for less stakes and more horses? Differing class assessment I appreciate but the non winners on Friday has 7 starters??
  13. Galah, not really advocating anything other than common sense should be applied to every situation, which is not happening in our lives over recent years! I was not with Sheryll Wigg when she used the syringe and wouldnt know whether this is common practice with her training practices! I have never been seriously involved in the operation of how a stable operates although I used to have a basic idea of what went on years ago, I believe. What I do know on the face of it is that Sheryll Wigg has been given a totally over the top sentence for something that really has not been performance enhancing to her horses!!!! I certainly do not condone cheating as many of my posts over the years would indicate! Had Sheryll Wigg tubed, syringed, injected etc. banned drugs into her horses then I would not be supporting her! From what i have read she did not engage in banned or illegal performance enhancers and yet we want to castigate her??? Brodie as you are well aware is just totally frustrated by many things over the past few years including the total BULL SHIT that we have had to endure from the most evil Communist so called Prime Minister. There are far more important things going on in NZ at the moment, than a very very hardworking horse trainer that gave her horses black pepper and turmeric on the day of her horses racing! Most people in NZ have just been worn down and just do what Ardern and Co. says and thinks that the BS she says must be correct! Brodie, while he has breath still in him, will always speak his mind whether it is right or wrong! I believe Sheryll Wigg has been dealt a far too severe penalty for a very small misdemeanour that hurt no one!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Just having a look thru the fields for Haddington Friday night! Only 8 races and several with very small fields! Doesnt appear to be worth a crack on most of them! Public cant go on course so turnover going backwards? When there is only this number of horses racing for not too bad $, what is going on??
  15. By the way things are going racing in the north will cease prior to the so called animal welfare agencies calling for racing to cease!! Ms. Wigg and Tim Vince are going to be a massive loss to North Island racing!! No harm was caused and yet a disqualification of trainers license of 17 months which is one month less than was applied for someone who used Blue Magic on a regular basis!! Go figure, it just doesnt seem right!!
  16. So Ms. Wigg got 1 month less than what Nigel got for administering Blue Magic, when she administered nothing that was giving her horses an an advantage, and was legal!!!!!,,, Go figure!!!!!!
  17. Fair enough Robalan and she clearly broke the rule which is just one of the plainly stupid rules that we are unfortunately being forced into on a daily basis! Just because it is a rule does not mean that everyone has agreed to it being sensible and not requiring looking into it if no wrong harm or advantage has occurred surely???? We as citizens of NZ have over recent years have become very complacent and accepting of so much BS it has become a pandemic! Ms. Wigg has obviously broken a rule but on the face it has not gained any advantage from what she did!!! Does she really deserve such a harsh disqualification from being able to train horses for what she did? Could you kindly advise us all what the disqualification was for the ones that were guilty in the BLUE MAGIC cases where they were clearly administering illegal substances for GAIN? At the end of the day it doesnt affect any of us really, however what it does do is just put another knife into the back of harness racing in the North Island which it well can do without!
  18. Mr Cock, if that is the best you have got then keep whatever you are on going!!! What would you actually think I would possibly be embarrassed by? If you got nothing to offer then why bother?,
  19. Do not know Sheryll Wigg apart from knowing that she is probably the best amateur driver in NZ even allowing for the fact she is from the North Island. Yes I know there are rules in place for everything, and the citizens of NZ are supposed to comply with them whether they are good or totally crazy in line with what our Communist Leader has put in place. However sometimes there has to be some commonsense applied and once again I personally believe from the facts given, that the Racing Integrity Board should d certainly be changing their name again!!!! The Dickheads that are making these stupid decisions seriously need to look at the damage they are doing to the harness racing industry. Last week a young Junior driver Jordan Crawford gets done for doing nothing wrong, and obviously Mr Breckon is not prepared to stand up for one of his employees, when they have been harmed!!!! This week our best Amateur, yes broke a rule, but yes the RULE IS JUST SO BLATANTLY STUPID, which is just one of the STUPID HARNESS RULES that need changing. Come on HRNZ get your act together and let us see that you actually do care about the industry that actually pays for your lifestyle! Doubt whether anything will be changed as the industry has been going backwards for years and no signs of improvements despite BRAINSTORMING!!
  20. Dave, you are totally correct on the face of it! I also dont see any logic to the rule whatsoever if it is non performance enhancing? Maybe detrimental as you might have sneezing horses from the Black Pepper? I am sure Turmeric and Black Pepper is nothing close to what some stables give to their horses! Anyway, the loss of Tim Vince and Sheryll Wigg from Auckland harness racing, possibly for good, is massive!
  21. And yet the BOOSTERED politicians are testing positive to this dangerous virus? And all the unpoisoned I know havent had anything! Go figure!
  22. Ranga, as if I need attention! Like to be in the limelight, yeah right!
  23. Viagra? What the hell is Niagara’s?
  24. Think it used to be judged by a certain no. Of people putting forward who they thought was the best and the majority of votes was the winner for each section. Not sure if. this is the way it is decided still, but probably the best way as always subjective and could be seen to be biased otherwise.
  25. More horses gone from Auckland racing. Tim Vince and Ms. Wigg were certainly an asset to Auckland harness racing that they can ill afford to lose, Tim will probably give it away now you would think? Obviously she breached the one day rule and rules are rules even if they are stupid rules it seems! Not sure whether what she administered was performance enhancing on the day of the races, but it doesnt really seem to be the equal of “Blue Magic” or the other stuff that we know are used as performance enhancers by a certain stable! As I say I do not condone it on the day of the races if that is the rule, however it seems a day earlier then it wouldve been legal! Really in trouble is our Auckland racing and we can only surmise what is likely to happen in the future!
