  1. It's obvoius to me why they don't, its a very very competitive environment in Aus. and the spread of quality on a far grander scale , in NZ not so much if at all , particularly at the moment
  2. Good luck to him , what a great opportunity for him, you'd think looking at his work ethic he will go well. Undoubtedly the entire merry go round is another thumbs up for the future of nz racing!
  3. Youre probably right, my punting is so bad these days my account needs constant loading!
  4. I gave it a good go and I'm calling it a flop for racing but pretty good for other sports.
  5. It seems like the lessons aren't just for RACE but NZTR also, hopefully the report alludes to that.
  6. Agree I have found it better and don't mind it, but the results part needs a sort out sometimes the hamster wheel never stops.
  7. Yep especially the results, perhaps it's all the new traffic from people who can't get into retail stores 🙄
  8. The sport is dead in the water in this country, these sorts of things are only the beginning. They get them going and then realise the horse racing side of things doesn't mix with the other areas , so guess what happens ...
  9. I'll relunctantly go in with you Thomas if youre struggling to find friends. LOVERACING.NZ, together with New Zealand Bloodstock, is giving Thoroughbred owners the chance to finally get their friends and family to Share the Thrill of racehorse ownership! If you’ve ever tried to explain to friends and family that indescribable feeling of seeing your own horse race (and win!) then you will understand there is simply nothing like it. Now, you can take them on the ride with you, sharing the excitement, emotion, fun and thrills first-hand! Share the Thrill is the ultimate ownership competition where you and your team could win a share in a Thoroughbred yearling purchased from New Zealand Bloodstock's National Yearling Sales Series in March 2022. It's FREE to take part, and it's as simple as entering a team of four - with you, as an owner, the skipper, and three mates who are not racehorse owners and are new to this great industry of ours - and you're in to win! The prize: A 10% share* in a Thoroughbred yearling purchased at Karaka 2022 Training costs covered for up to two years or until the horse's first race (up to $400 per month) Flights for the winning team of four to Auckland on Saturday 5th March 2022 (if not local), returning Monday 7th March 2022 Tickets, hospitality and VIP on-course experience at Vodafone Derby Day, Ellerslie on Saturday 5th March Bespoke Stud Tour (or similar activity) on Sunday 6th March The winning team will be hosted at New Zealand Bloodstock's National Yearling Sale Series on Monday 7th March 2022 - including a Thoroughbred Experience Tour Two nights' twin-share accommodation in Auckland Breakfast and lunch provided on Sunday 6th and Monday 7th March Transport between venues supplied
  10. You'd think so, but probably not with this lot. More likely volume of alchohol sales, number tables/tents sold etc. All stuff that's relatively easy to control and consistent in demand. The wagering I'd be surprised if they even thought about it, take the AWT for example why hasn't the apparent success of that racing been conveyed to the industry?
  11. Less is more right .... right???
  12. Correct it might be a hint as to what the problem with the horse might be? Only guessing however.
  13. Saundry cannot leave NZ racing fast enough in my view, leading us off the cliff top , under his stewardship the industry has gone from bad to worse year on year.
  14. Couldn't agree more. http://www.theoptimist.co.nz/ NZTR more worried about COVID Copy and Paste than the actual lives of jockeys etc. BS should most certainly front up! http://www.theoptimist.co.nz/
  15. $3k I think , but hey whats $1k in an industry as bouyant as our local racing industry, leaving very nice types as well from the ones I've seen on Gavelhouse.
  16. The comment I read was only that he sustained an injury so can't identify what, makes ya wonder if it had anything to do with him being a Stallion proposition as to why it wasn't mentioned or perhaps its a show of recovery?
  17. Form is suspect for mine, but then I guess that's going to be the case no matter what in NZ. Shouldn't stand for more than $2k in the NZ market, but they'll toss him around the Embellish level and find a home for him.
  18. It makes you wonder if another Government bail out is on the cards? given all this sucking up to the government or is this the price for the latest bail out?
  19. You've got to wonder at the arrogance of these people, be very interesting to see if this backfires on them. My Vaccine Pass required for visiting TAB From Monday, 13 December, if you are visiting TAB board venues (i.e. standalone TABs), you must be fully vaccinated to enter these premises, and will need to produce your My Vaccine Pass on arrival. Pubs and clubs with TAB services can open under the Red and Orange levels of the Traffic Light System, but only if they enforce the My Vaccine Pass requirements. While the use of My Vaccine Passes is not a requirement of the general retail settings of the System, TAB NZ has decided to mandate their use in TAB outlets, to align with pubs, clubs and racecourses. If you are coming into a TAB retail outlet to complete your identification verification, you must be fully vaccinated and have My Vaccine Pass. If not, you will need to complete the process online or call our Contact Centre to be taken through an exception process. The My Vaccine Pass is an official record of your Covid-19 vaccination status for use within Aotearoa New Zealand. For more information on My Vaccine Pass, visit the Unite Against Covid-19 page. Thanks, The TAB Team
  20. Exactly!
  21. The troube is they are following BS/NZTR pointless "venue plan" and the M report (well picking the parts they like i.e. the parts they wrote themselves or fabricated and thrust on the NZ industry) the damage has been done with those in mind and unfortunately there are still many naive industry participants out there who think both are going to create a more bouyant industry, when in my view they have both produced the opposite . NZTR should be kept as far a way as possible from producing any plans or reports or even commisioning them for that matter, they could turn the golden goose into a sparrow !
  22. Odds on youre wasting your time doing that report, the industry won't change it refuses to , the self interest that burdens its progress will only begin to dessipate once the writing is on the wall. I admire your enthusiasm but unless personnel are put in place that are vastly different than what we have had in the last 30 years there is no hope of there being significant enough change to make it all work, imo the change that is needed would upset the status quo/the current vision for the future/the M report and therefore just isn't going to take place.
  23. Ellerslie that is.
  24. I agree and lacks empathy for anything be it trainer , owner etc beyond the Waikato.
  25. Yeah but do we have bookmakers or anyone who wants to bet on our product?
