  1. The majority of the black type they won here i.e. G1's won't be around shortly , all the G1's are on warnings and if you look at the average ratings for those races this season they are lower than the previous seasons , it's a downward spiral . We can call them G1's if we want but internationally they won't be recognised . All Black types below G1's are even worse .
  2. Don't hold your breath on a large portion of black type holding onto it's status , every black type race in this country from G1 down to listed runs well below it's required ratings average . In a few years our current G1 races will be struggling to hold on to a G3 status , because they are currently hardly holding onto that G3 level of rating . It's all well saying this race and that race can be black type but overseas they aren't stupid , they know when it's coming out of a cornflakes packet , they will hold no weight at all .
  3. Yet only 1 horse rated over 84 , Jodelin Gal on 89 , the only horse in the field that has true black type ability that i can see . But we need to get used to it , as i keep posting the numbers of fillies being sold out of NZ now is an avalanche . And how long till Jodelin Gal joins her 1/2 brother bankers Choice in the Waller stable . She's racing for 60k today but can race for 140k every Saturday in Sydney . The whole industry is shrinking , and it's shrinking northwards .
  4. Did you guys see the pictures coming out of Otaki , they would be talking to themselves , there was nobody on course bar owners , trainers and jockeys . Perhaps all the jockeys could have worn traditional dress in the races ? Purely for the TV audience .
  5. I would think helping pay RACE debt off . We are all part of one big happy family aren't we .
  6. I have just seen another stakes filly that has left our shores , Unusual Culture , 3yo filly out of the Auret stable , 3 starts , 1 win 2 stakes placings , first up out of the Maher/Eustace stable in the 1st at Caufield tomorrow . It's all good , we'll be able to watch mdns fill groups races shortly , especially fillies .
  7. Yeah but every dog can have it's day .
  8. Is he better than the norm for the SI or was it merely right horses , right day ? Hasn't really stood out to me previous to today .
  9. Mate your going to do your head in trying to fathom their rationale , they could all be half of what they are and still attract the same fields , because if someone says my horse could win more in Aus they would go anyway , there is only a handful of horses each season out of NZ that are competitive in any group level race , even most of our G1 racehorses struggle to win city Saturday races . But hey minimum is up to 14k , so really who are we plebs to look to the promised land of group racing and complain , be bloody grateful i say .
  10. Wash your mouth out , catering for 2yo's and 3yo's in the SI , waste of bloody time to them , it's a discussion that's been going on here for a while and they still haven't picked it up .
  11. You'd be surprised at the number of owners are nieve to things such as this , or a syndicate where the trainer just does as they want , big stables in particular need numbers in work to keep things ticking over financially . I can tell you the syndicates i am in with my small percentage as are many others , it becomes too cumbersome to ask everyone so trainer and syndicate manager decide , i just have to live with it , but i knew going in . Also some owners can't wait , hardest lesson in racing , patience , everybody has made the error .
  12. Then there would be nobody left to tell the drug testers where and when they need to drug test .
  13. As Freda says most try to plan but it always amazes me how many times i see a horse that clearly doesn't like wet tracks kicking off a campaign in April/May .
  14. Their not that smart you wouldn't give them that much credit to be that cunning , just the usual bullshit planning , been happening for decades .
  15. It's not weird they are 2 different grades of race meeting , Oamaru mostly mdns and horses that might not have made the Riccarton fields or connections felt they were more competitive at Oamaru , and as much as i would like to put it down to NZTR incompetence even they wouldn't have been expecting a G4 at Oamaru .
  16. Most of the horses racing at Riccarton will want the wet track , and to be fair i have seen plenty of heavy tracks at Oamaru , just having a dry spell .

The A/W's were supposed to save the industry a small fortune in lost revenue from abandonments and postponements , well that only works if those days lost were actually making money in the first place , which we know is highly dubious , if anything the industry made more from stakes saved , so were the A/W's really needed or were all those in favor of them merely magpies .
  18. You obviously are not employed by the TAB .

Don't piss on the man's parade D . It was everybody's big selling point , well those that were getting something out of them .
  22. I sat in disbelief Joe , what has happened to our once great sport . It can't all be about the dollar .
  23. NS was superb , a class above .
  24. I am absolutely disgusted that TV coverage went to music immediately after crossing the line , i am sure it was our decision because there is no way the Aussies would have , our racing and coverage of it has become completely soulless . I am emailing the Tab and NZTR to register my disgust and would ask that everyone else does the same , it's totally unacceptable .

Mate , look at the state of the industry , does it look like they have ever accepted they got something wrong , they just double down . Plus we would have to be a well run industry first , we have run on the fringes of insolvency for years .
