  1. Smart devil very tidy frontrunner, if left to his own devices, different story when they learned to take him on.
  2. Great effort that, one of the mainstays of the souths training ranks, been around a long time.
  3. One scratched and a dry track no help but will stick with him, and biff in iffida in earlier race.
  4. Looked at nadira franco, inside 2nd line so should get a good trip, mobile, start and could run on, but odds last nite were to short for mine, may have see if they take it to the coast in March, might back standrews Masonic and fazzoli at wingatui, hope the track got a bit of moisture in it.
  5. Interesting watching the all the top bred horses, all of the who's who in the racing division, all casting their expert eye over the many lots on offer, at the end of the day all the horses bought across the board from top lots to bottom, we shall hear of their progress along the way, the fast ones, that is, will their success be judged on the expert eye of the purchaser, all the attributes and mannerism, the walk, price tag, and the breeding of the beast, we all know there is no guarantees purchasing a horse, is it down to all the attributes and the expert eye and skill of the purchaser as mentioned, or is it all irrelevant, and just plain old good luck. You be the judge.
  6. Surely that couldn't be right, after all those years you would think it was a given, but yeah not likely to find out.
  7. All sounds abit fishy to me.
  8. That's odd, they always used to follow Nelson in their June circuit, thats a long wait.
  9. I keep thinking they race on the all weather, haven't been able to change the mindset, anyway why the change to the grass and is it a permanent change.Do prefer grass track racing.
  10. Think the original facility at Greymouth was owned by the mawhera corporation, when it was up for renewal they wanted to double the lease to struggling club, they couldn't afford it and that was the end, now it's a barron piece of land with nothing on it, a real shame, both Westport and reefton took their days for the March meetings, and I think they battle with those days, they used to have an open class trot there back in the day, with some top trotters racing, great facilities at omoto, did hold a few pacing races sometime back when struggling to fill galloping fields, not sure why a permanent shift to omoto was never taken up.
  11. Interest some religious people with business, that don't watch television read newspapers, but have no problem using them for advertising ect, interesting documentary on glorivale a while back, they like to be shelf self sufficient with their own work force, even midwifery, but when things go wrong they rely on our hospitals, dont want to have anything to do with the outside world, until it suits, don't get me wrong that is the right thing to do when it's a matter of life and death, but just a tad hypocritical, or am I to harsh.
  12. Good luck, like the look of those odds, I got em kay pops at the gallops fixed at 81s and 18s, followed it the whole circuit and got a track to suit yesterday,3 wide the trip and finished third, deserved a better fate to be fair. Good open fields at timaru today but cant see much, is a few roughies paying big fixed prices, finding the right one the challenge.
  13. Many a fine tune played on an old fiddle.
  14. Anyone hear what their turnover was.

Interesting start in the last race, two very slow away, one late scratched having its head in the other one's barrier, but apparently not effecting its chances, according to the rider, so it deemed a starter, last race so they all probably wanted to get home, not sure about the compass, just think they forgot where the winning post was.

Must have been an easier and safer for them set up the checkpoint via the backdoor.
  17. Interesting reading the washup from the last at the greymouth gallops, one late scratched and the other deemed a starter, even though the late scratched one had his head in the barrier of the one deemed a starter, jockey stated it did effect his chances, didn't look good and no help to the punter, just maybe they were in a hurry to get home being the last race.

That's a very good turnover, similar to what kumara would do at home, yep everyone had to leave via the back door, to be fair probably was safer than the bridge and that corner on the hill, people were warned throughout the day about the breath testing, so no excuses there, first time ever I have gone out the back door, the club would certainly be happy with the crowd and turnover, well done to them, maybe a better plan for the future, as kumara will always be a dicey one. Just wonder what they turned over last Sunday, the weather was a tad damp and cold, guess you can't win them all, just a shame that hokitika was the biggest loser in the wash up with losing their venue. The powers that be certainly got that one wrong.

Big crowd there today, weather played it's part and fields held up well, looked like horses and riders got around in one piece, was surprised to see the car park was full and had to leave via the back entrance, roll on Tuesday.
  20. Maybe if it had been a favourite the result may have not changed.
  21. Had a friend that brought a pair of meatloaf undies, printed on the front it read I will do anything for love, and on the back it read but I won't do that.
  22. Thanks for your kind offer, but thought your day would be busy enough, sorry didn't catch your comments, couldn't quite hear them if it was during the cup presentation, getting abit deaf these days,
  23. Certainly was a great day out, thought the crowd was better than other years, track played fair and winners came from front and back, hopefully the turnover was up.
  24. Agree, draw usually dictates the winning of the races, I certainly wont be having a bet in any mile races.
