  1. Was pleased to get on augustace today, after I was disappointed with the run at wingatui last Friday,, downside I only got the 64s on tote, 80s fixed was the better deal on the day, this horse formally train by Mr rae in the north I think, change of trainer and did win a trial a few weeks ago.Not a easy task to lead all the way at riccarton.
  2. Do you know how the farmer found his sheep in the long grass, very satisfying.
  3. Anyone out their know the reason why a lot of horses hang, during races.

    Fog?

Have to pull that old chestnut out on Monday, sorry boss, can't come to work, fogged in, wonder what reply that I'd get.
  5. How did all those tips go today, can't say any of my bets went that well, couple of tips for tomorrow be a help.
  6. I see another poor part time driver got a 2 day suspension, and a 300$ dollar fine, for over use of the 3 whip, bloody tough on the battlers, especially after trekking all the way up there. Wouldn't that put you off.
  7. Dont tell me, these girls, live in your area.
  8. To be fair, he has been racing in 2000m distances for a while now, so probably not surprising to see him outpaced early, trainer thought he would go ok, but did say he preferred better tracks, hard for a stayer dropping back to the mile all the same, wouldn't drop him on that, some just don't handle that riverton track.
  9. Some love the grass.
  10. Great win by I'm tough last nite, a huge thrill for the connections, 2 from 2, what more can one ask for.
  11. A shame to be honest, and agree with all the comments on the poor returns, just stretches the punting dollar, with so many forms of betting available, be best to return to the original format, and try to keep the trifecta pools more financial.
  12. I wonder, good on them for chalking up another win with this horse, the old saying, never condemn a horse till it's dead. They will make a liar out of you every time.
  13. Can't win, if your not in.
  14. My problem with gambling at the moment, is I can't even pick my nose.
  15. Going to be tough to find another champ to get everybody to the race track, she has certainly been a promoters dream, be looking forward to the next chapter, and how her progeny preform, certainly a tough act to follow, no pressure, I'm sure.
  16. Some threads you don't forget, mind you had to look a fair way back to find it.
  17. Got the gold today, not slow or feeble, good on them, one for the battlers, to be fair he has been going ok races lately, as they say, every dog has his day. As an old friend told me, never condemn a horse till their dead.
  18. Very sad to hear the loss of this horse, thoughts and condolences to all connections. Certainly was a star of south island racing, and as tough as old boots, often carrying big weights. Also acquitted himself very well when racing in the north. Certainly one of my favourites, and will be sadly missed.
  19. Very sad to learn of the passing of a true New Zealand racing legend.
  20. I doubt very much any fine or suspension, will happen, sometimes being on the fence the best place to be, you just need that luck, I always like the 1 draws or the inside draw on the second line, if a horse can get a good run and do no work they are always a show, no matter what the ability or surface, and I've had some good roughies from these draws, did get 27s place div at reefton trots, even though the driver never driven a winner, from 1 on the second line, got locked away and done no work, and just sometimes with the run can lob a place or a win.
  21. Did have to work hard early, the winner had the drop on him the trip, but I also thought may have been a bit overconfident.
  22. Maybe we need a few more mentors to help the south island apprentices, your knowledge on tracks and riding maybe of help to some of them, ever thought of having ago,.
  23. That's why I ask, so many say the standard of riding in the south is poor, yet we have one of the best mentors you would think, but I guess he has a fair area to cover.
  24. Must ask the question, how much have the south apprentices improved with him as their mentor, or is he just there on race day.
  25. A very well written, and straight to the point submission. Let's hope they can reconsider their original plan, I'm making it my mission to make some of these meetings slated for closure, all going well will start with the iconic riverton meeting.
