Which could work in its favour. It is not without a runner's chance but 7s is unbackable.

Runners Chance?

It is in the field and a great draw and probably trail, but can not see it in the money on the way it was flat out and Heavily whipped in the trial and just about  the slowest last quarter of the day!

Kim Butt does a video spiel each week with Jonny Cox whilst driving the their race meetings .... Jonny sounded pretty confident from the draw for The Spitfire.

The Brodster, still always on the money!

If it was ever going to pay a dividend it was today!

Sat in the trail, race run slowly and still couldnt finish off, and wouldve been 5th if Khal Drogo didnt gallop which is where I thought it would finish at best.

If they went harder it wouldve been down the track!

Yeah some will say it went good, but 49 starts no placings and the saga continues!

Hopefully it proves me wrong just for perseverance!

Why is this horse not paying 100/1 to run a place .ballless so called bookies don't want to make a dollar.they should put a rating 15 race at addington over 1400m.late in the night you guys can get there and cheer this horse on

The horse has got no show tomorrow, as the field is stronger than it has been racing and drawn wide from the second row!

TAB could run an option, Averos Rustler to finish in the first 6!

There has to be some big story why a grainer would still be lining up a 51 start maiden that has never run a dividend bearing placing?

He is back again at Oamaru on Saturday on the grass, the Spitfire!

Interesting though that the horse has changed trainers to Denis O’Connell in the book, but is currently domiciled with Bruce Negus, who I believe is Denis’s “brother in law”.

Can Bruce turn around the fortunes of Averos Spitfire and run a dividend bearing  placing at start 53???

Drawn the outside of the gate but it is a very weak maiden so is Saturday going to be the day?

Probably not, but miracles sometimes do happen!

This must be its last chance seriously!

He could start favourite !!!! lol........ Only 2 of the runners in this race, have EVER run a place in a race anytime. wow!.

number 4 Silent Shadow has 2 x 2nds in 40 starts, so like Av Spitfire , has had a lot of chances with that many starts?.

so number 11 Santeria with 3 x 3rds is the only other runner to EVER PAY A DIVI in the race.

Race 3 The Pick and Shovel Pace at Oamaru !!!  someone is going to dig themselves out of the Hole .....lol

Dennis has all his five horses racing this weekend (Rangiora and Oamaru) yet only AS and another stable newbie in Aveross Majesty are listed as being with Bruce and Jess Young, for me no chance in Hell the other 3 are being floated back and forth to Dunedin.

Interesting to see how Aveross Majesty will go on saturday after a trial win but in a slow time, same owners as donut king stablemate ...... could be a profitable weekend for the stable you just never know when slow horses are all racing each other anything can happen.

It's going to be a bigger challenge as Dennis cant drive him.

In some ways this is what's fundamentally wrong with harness racing, some very much below average meetings and just looking at things this week a lot of them ,maybe less but higher quality might be a step forward, however the TAB appears to be going ok supposedly, however back to the subject at hand,Dennis O Connell seems to have a knack of getting some very average horses,(and I think we can safely say the spitfire fits in that category😄) and doing reasonably well with his all sorts team,so you never know,if he can get as much out of the spitfire as he can with Alexy then there is plenty of time for this horse yet over the next 5 or 6 years, interesting times indeed.

Bruce Negus is training it!

If Bruce can not get anymore out of the Spitfire, it will probably be gymkhanas!

Not guilty!

However with $62 and $68 in the tote pools, I wonder how on earth the TAB can actually to show tote divs?

There was 10 dollars in the win pool, all horses were paying 8.40, based on that the TAB must take out 16cents to the dollars on tote bets.
